Of the van Hovenberg children who reached adulthood, Frank Richard died in 1891, Martin Henry Radcliffe died in 1914, and Robert Edward died in early 1923. It was apparently in the summer of that year that Juliette Leonhard, accompanied by her son, Herman Leonhard, decided to visit her two brothers living in the East Bay in California. These photographs are mementos of that visit. |
