Sarah Louise Wood was born November 1, 1849 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of John Huyler Wood and Sarah Cole Lippincott Wood. She married Dr Henry van Hoevenberg on October 10, 1877 at New Brighton, Staten Island, and then moved to Kingston where Dr Henry was in the process of assuming the practice of his father, Dr James Oliver van Hoevenberg.
They had the following three children:
Henry, Jr., born September 1, 1879, died September 18, 1955;
Huyler Wood, born January 2, 1882, died 1946;
Louise Wood, born July 12, 1883, died July 28, 1974.
We have no specific memories of Sarah Louise at this time. After her death, and the death of her husband two years later, their daughter Louise kept the the home for another 50 years.
